Last week, their COVID-19 relief plan was launched. It offers free, remote and immediate medical reports on RX & CT to assess lung damage for patients infected with COVID-19. These are extremely important studies as they are the key to a proper treatment plan and use of hospital resources.

This alliance arises due to the rapid expansion of the pandemic, collapse of health centers in Europe and growing concern about the weak capacity of centers in Latin America. This service is expected to drastically reduce operational work in health institutions, leaving more time for patient care and reducing amount of patients inside the buildings. Every study saves 20 minute work for a doctor at a hospital. 100 studies would reduce 33 hours of non-stop work for someone who can otherwise be helping patients.

All hospitals need are an X-Ray or CT machine and access to internet. They will receive free access to the telemedicine platform to upload the RX/CT scans, and a doctor specialized in image reading will do and upload their analysis in 30 minutes. Dr. Javier Vallejos, director of diagnostic imaging at the Center for Medical Education and Clinical Research (CEMIC), explains that «We have created a collaborative community who has specific training to help fight this disease. This way, we could help the imaging services of any health center in countries that are not yet in an epidemic outbreak but need to prepare for a crisis”

The companies that are a part of Telmed Foundation are Mamotest, Delta, CEMIC and ActualMed, providing their technology in solidarity with the health crisis that the world is facing today. «Under the circumstances in which we live, the most important thing today is to ensure the health of the people; this service is made available free of charge so that the safety of the population is not a business but a collaboration amongst all» says Guillermo Pepe, Director of Mamotest telediagnostics company. The platform that will be used for the transfer of images is called Actual PACS, and will not require installation or purchase by the institutions that want to request the service.
