A Seminar to Analyze Business Opportunities in Telemedicine, Tele-healthcare and e-Health

The IT, Telemedicine and Tele-healthcare segment is becoming increasingly important in healthcare institutions in Brazil and has also become more prominent in hospitals. To discuss the business climate in these sectors and encourage business initiatives, the Digital Healthcare Seminar will take place on the 22nd and 23rd of May, as part of the 19th HOSPITALAR Fair. Organized by the Telemedicine Course at the Faculty of the Medicine of the University of Sao Paolo (USP), the Brazilian Telemedicine and Tele-healthcare Council (CBTms) and Hospitalar, the seminar will explore opportunities to work with hospitals, homecare companies and health plans. The President of the seminar and President of the Brazilian Telemedicine and Tele-healthcare Council, Professor Dr. Chao Lung Wen, explains that “the event offers an opportunity to meet to discuss the possibilities for business initiatives, encouraging the private sector to take part and introduce its excellence in the field to create a company with optimal, humanized services to improve healthcare in the population making use of the potential of telemedicine and tele-healthcare.” Three main themes will be explored: – Tele-homecare for hospitals: Focused on the organization of a new kind of service offered by hospitals to patients during the period immediately after their treatment. This theme will include discussion of the creation of a tele-outpatient support unit to improve patients’ recovery at home via the use of interactive technologies (laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc.), the provision of personalized services for patients and their families and operational support to doctors in hospitals. – Tele-homecare for homecare companies: in this section, themes will include the new opportunities for the provision of homecare, with remote support and organization of carers (professionals or trained family members) in the home to care for patients in the mid to long term. The new kinds of services on offer will be analyzed with a focus on humanitarian family management. – E-Healthcare / Mobile Healthcare for healthcare plans: Via a set of specially produced preventative materials, with simple interactive questionnaires which facilitate user monitoring, e-Healthcare’s objective will be to encourage awareness and gradual changes in behavior to improve health via healthcare channels. It will focus on Healthcare plans, health insurers and suppliers. The confirmed speakers include: Dr. Daniel Gustavo Ingeniero Goroso from the Hospital; Neubahhuer Marcelo de Paula, Head of Technology Management, Dr. Helena Mendes, Director of Homecare at Amil International Medical Assistance; Bruzadin José, Manager of Intel’s Digital Inclusion Program in Brazil; Dr. Josier Vilar, President of Pronep; Dr. Linamara Battistella, the Secretary of State for the Rights of Disabled People SP; Luisa Bueno Dal, President of Ben Cuidados en el Hogar; Prof. Dr. Milton Arruda Martins, Head Professor of Medicine at HCFMUSP, and Dr. Chao Lung Wen, President of the Brazilian Council of Telemedicine and Tele-healthcare.
