From the 22nd to the 25th of May, businesspeople and professionals in the healthcare industry will meet in Sao Paolo to attend the 19th HOSPITALAR 2012 International Product, Equipment, Service and Technology Fair for Hospitals, Laboratories, Pharmacies, Clinics and Surgeries.
The event will occupy all the pavilions (a total of 82,000m2) and over 18 conference rooms at Expo Center Norte in Sao Paolo, where new products, equipment and services will be presented and trends in the administration and development of healthcare will be examined.
With the participation of 1250 exhibitors, the 2012 edition is preparing to receive over 90,000 visitors including hospital and clinic heads, nurses, doctors, other medical professionals, distributors, representatives from the industrial sector and international buyers. “The fair gathers together the leading brands and most important decision makers in the healthcare chain. It is the most important platform for business and negotiation in the Americas,” said Doctor and Hospital President Waleska Santos. Thanks to growing public and private investment, the healthcare sector in Brazil has experienced significant growth in recent years. The market for products and medical and diagnostic equipment saw 19% growth by the end of 2011, reaching a turnover of 13.5 billion dollars, higher than the growth rate for the Brazilian economy as a whole. The sector also recorded record growth in the creation of new jobs, doubling expectations for the period. In this context, the fair serves as an opportunity for professionals to update themselves with new developments as well as as a business opportunity for the supply industry. “$6 billion worth of business was done during the 2011 fair, an increase of 11% over the 2010 edition. This confirms the strong growth of the healthcare market in Brazil,” the president noted.
An international and globalized event
Companies from all over Brazil and several other countries have made the hospital a gateway onto the Latin American healthcare market. During the 2011 edition, there were 525 foreign exhibitors (30% of the total), representing 34 countries, including Germany, Canada, Chile, Denmark, the United States, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Work promoting the event to international visitors has also had an effect, as it will receive 4700 buyers from 63 countries.
Growth and Specialization
A major attraction of the fair is its multi-sector nature. New products and services for every area of healthcare will be exhibited at the event, increasing the range and number of alternative sources of supply available to hospitals, clinics and laboratories. In this context, some sectors have seen an increase in the number of companies and new technologies which has led event organizers to invest in new projects to further consolidate HOSPITALAR’s status. One of the new features of this edition is Digital Healthcare – the 1st International Forum and Fair for telemedicine, telehealthcare, and Healthcare-related Information Technology, in order to attract suppliers in the IT and Telemedicine areas as well. The event will also feature conferences and workshops organized by the Faculty of Medicine at USP HOSPITAL, L + M Obtiene, and Clasaúde, amongst others.
Healthcare Management Forum
Another feature of note is the Hospitalar Forum, which will gather together healthcare experts, businesspeople and healthcare professionals to discuss new concepts in the management and optimization of financial and human resources. Amongst congresses, seminars and workshops, over 60 events will include a select group of thinkers, strategists and healthcare managers from the public and private sectors, dedicated to presenting new proposals for the development of the sector. Renowned authorities and official bodies from the sector will provide their support. These will include the Confederación Nacional de Salud (National Healthcare Confederation, CNS), the Asociación de Hospitales del Estado de São Paulo (Association of Sao Paolo State Hospitals, Sindhosp), Asociación Brasileña de Medicina y Odontología (Brazilian Association of Medicine and Dentistry, ABIMO), the Asociación Médica Brasileña (Brazilian Medical Association, AMA), Organización Nacional de Acreditación (National Accreditation Association, ONA) Consejo Regional de Enfermería de São Paulo (Sao Paolo Regional Council of Nursing, SP-COREN), and more.
