Around 80 executives at different levels of decision-making (CEOs, CIOs, CISOs, CTOs and specialists) in the healthcare market (Service Providers, Health Insurers and Prepaid Health Insurers, Clinics and Laboratories) took part in the event to analyze issues such as Medical Information Technology, Traceability of Medications, Protection of Personal Health Data, Telemedicine, Imaging and Other Technologies, Interoperability and Electronic Health Records.

Attendees were welcomed by the event organizers: Santiago Videla from Galeno; Diego Waksman from the Hospital Alemán; Gustavo Pepe from Medicus; Alejandro Bras Harriott from Omint S.A.; Gustavo Aguirre from OSDE; and Eduardo Del Piano from Swiss Medical.

“This activity was a launch pad for USUARIA in an area that has grown enormously in recent years thanks to the advance of ICT, which has caused major transformations in the healthcare sector,” said Juan José Dell’Acqua, of Usuaria, who acted as the event’s host.

The issues explored were focused on the benefits of the application of ICT in healthcare such as improvements in the quality of care and efficiency, reduction of operating costs for clinical services, administrative expenses and the introduction of new modes of care.

Those directly involved, both users and solution providers (Galeno, Omint, IBM, Telefónica, OSDE, Swiss Medical, Medicus, Hospital Alemán, GS1, The Universidad del Salvador and Mindware) shared their recent experiences in the area with attendees. The SBIS, the Brazilian Society of Information Technology in Healthcare, was also present through its representative Jussara Macedo Pinho Rötzsch, who spoke about Unimed’s experience in Brazil.

Usuaria Research presented the results of research carried out among the most important participants in the sector. Areas surveyed included Statistics and Trends in IT Healthcare and the presentation was given by Ricardo Karamann.
