The portal was developed after a survey of healthcare research communities in order to identify the most suitable databases for satisfying the needs of professionals in the area. 10 million reales were invested in the portal and the purchase of seven digital database collections: Rebrats, Embase, the ProQuest Hospital Collection, Atheney Virtual Books, Micromedex, Dynamed and Best Practice – British Medical Journal, and it is estimated that it will benefit 1.8 million professionals.

To gain access to the site, healthcare professionals must be linked to professional consultancy in one of the following fields: biology, biomedicine, physical education, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, language therapy, medicine, veterinary medicine, nutrition, dentistry, psychology or social services.
