GE Launches a Prevention Campaign on Social Networks

October is Woman’s Health Month. All month people from all over the world will meet to celebrate “Pink October”, emphasizing the importance of the struggle against breast cancer. The 20th of October is also a very important date; the World Day for the Fight against Osteoporosis. E and GE Healthcare are going to get fully involved with these important initiatives. This month, the company will redouble its efforts to increase awareness about prevention and treatment in women’s health, through interactive activity on social networks and also through partnerships with the largest events in São Paulo.

Over the next 31 days, the company’s communication channels, such as Facebook, Twitter, the blog and the press room, will feature pink designs and logos to show its support for the campaign. Furthermore, GE employees throughout the world will unite to form a human Pink Ribbon, a symbol of the fight against breast cancer. In Brazil, the symbol will be formed in São Paulo on October 16th by approximately 150 people.

On October 21st, GE Healthcare, in partnership with Danone, will take part in the Fifth Walk for the Fight Against Osteoporosis. As well as encouraging physical exercise, the initiative, which involves over thousand people, will promote awareness and prevention of diseases through tests carried out by a GE team that will be available at the race in Mooca Shopping Plaza in São Paulo.

Another measure taken by GE Healthcare in October will be related to the artistic project “Cow Parade”. In partnership with the Cancer Hospital of Barretos, the company is launching a competition to encourage companies in the region to join the campaign by decorating their windows in pink. The winner will receive a sculpture decorated by one of the artists in the project, adapted to suit “Pink October”, to place in front of their business.
