The latest HIMSS convention and annual fair received a total of 34,696 visitors who surveyed the exhibits presented by 1158 companies over the 3 days that the exhibition lasted. Ehealth Reporter Latin America toured the aisles of the show and selected the following suppliers offering their innovative wares in Latin America. 

 

 

 

 

 


SAP Healthcare installed its Mobile Health Knowledge Center in which it presented a variety of technologies designed to strengthen different kinds of healthcare system. Firstly, the company’s aim is to create wireless healthcare companies through its mobile platform and applications that can process information three thousand six hundred times more quickly than in the past with new in-memory technology; another product range offered by the company was its Cloud solutions that can optimize and manage the most critical tasks. It also presented its end user solutions such as the mobile application SAP Cara Circles Mobile designed to help carer families, healthcare organizations, professional doctors and patients to experience all the benefits of collaborative care.    

 

Cerner took part in the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS13, as it had the year before. The event was held to demonstrate the skills of the suppliers at contacting each other and exchanging information. On this occasion Kevin Schmidt held an educational session about the company’s vision of interoperability. It is important to note that Cerner is one of six large companies that have joined together to work towards achieving greater interoperability among competitors. 

 

 

CSC held a demonstration of its Coordinated Care solution, a technological framework that makes it possible to connect and share patient information during treatment. The management of care of patients and the population in general in the collaborative environment provided by this development results in improvements in efficiency, quality, and cost reduction. Furthermore, it introduced its Augoor information storage solution, which offers analysts the opportunity to ask complex questions and execute them over an enormous amount of varied data. To overcome interoperability obstacles the Viaduct solution provides an easy to use platform that makes it possible to share information whenever needed. Finally, the company presented scheduling and mobile access solutions.    

 

 

UpToDate, as well as placing a practical trolley at the disposition of visitors to transport them around the exhibition, presented a new mhealth solution. The objective of this development is to integrate clinical workflow so as to facilitate health organizations’ efforts to improve patient care. This is achieved by equipping doctors with rapid access to the information they need through mobile UpToDate applications available for the iPhone, Android and Windows 8. The advantage is that it will offer robust tools to Health IT administrators to instantaneously register users and rapidly administer them. Initially, it will only be available in the United States and Canada.     

 

 

FujiFilm presented the newest component in its portfolio of PACs solutions. This is the Synapse VNA (Vendro Neutral Archives) a patient-focused and user friendly solution that makes it possible to manage the whole range of data generated at healthcare institutions. Instead of being based on standardized or non-standardized data the Synapse VNA technology catalogues and maintains data in a patient-focused model that makes it the only point of access for electronic health records and other systems.

 

Carestream Julie Weidman and Cristine Kao from Carestream Health presented a video entitled “Transforming Challenges into Opportunities”, concerning contemporary trends and issues, which the company screened at HIMSS13. The issues surrounding Cloud-based products was one of the great themes debated in addition to commitment to patients – one of the demands of the American healthcare system for professionals – and the needs of healthcare executives.
