Health IT Solutions Stand Out at ExpoMedical 2013

Generales

Numerous companies, institutions and organizations that promote the use of IT in the health sector exhibited their products and services at the fair’s eleventh edition.

ANMAT

As a regulatory body, the National Administration of Medications, Food and Medical Technology was present at the fair to clear up doubts and provide advice to visitors.

“Contact with the main actors in the area is a priority for ANMAT and the exhibition seems to us to be an excellent space for this exchange,” said the coordinator of the organization’s Protocol and Ceremonial Program, Maria Fernanda Meraglia.

BioScience and Frixtel

The Intraway Group, which develops telecommunications solutions throughout the region, presented its work with the companies Frixtel and BioSciense.

Sergio D’ipollito, a Frixtel representative, explained how the partners in the group work together: “We create a solution and BioSciense has developed hardware that, via bluetooth and cable sensors, gathers information onscreen, such as blood pressure and glucose, among others.”

Biocom

With over 15 years experience in the market, Biocom presented the company’s solution for hospital administration.

“We deal with everything to do with clinical management and administration. We have an open system with different modules that makes it possible to serve both large and small clients,” said the Head of Marketing Maria Carolina López. She also noted: “Right now, we are placing more of an emphasis on the Electronic Health Record and Medication Traceability Modules.”

GS1 Argentina

The global organization took part in several talks and conferences and at its stand it gave advice to hospital representatives from the interior of the country interested in taking part in the National Traceability System.

Mario Abitbol, Leader of Health Development at GS1, said that Argentina is in a position to be a leader in terms of traceability. “There are many questions related to ANMAT traceability, and although not everyone comes to these fairs to address traceability issues there are still a lot of questions about what needs to be done,” he noted.

Selis

This company, which specializes in identification and coding, presented SOLUCIONES, a tool that makes it possible to identify patients via the use of personalized bracelets – which can include the name, age, sex, health record number, warnings, etc.

Diego Zantleifer, the company’s president, emphasized the impact created by ExpoMedical: “We believe that it is a very high profile event, perfectly focused on the sector with an attendance that meets our expectations in terms of quality and quantity.”

HL7 Argentina

This organization held a conference to describe its institutional role. It also offered an introduction to the most widespread standards (HL7 Messaging V2 and CDA) and presented its partners’ experiences during their application.

“ExpoMedical allows us to stay in contact with other actors in medical IT such as suppliers and/or manufacturers of medical apparatus and the buyers they seek (Medical Directors, Administrative Managers, Heads of Purchasing, etc.)”, said the engineer Javier Martin Solá, a member of the board of directors of HL7 Argentina.

Teleradweb

At the complex in Costa Salguero, Teleradweb demonstrated its remote medical imaging report service.

“To differentiate ourselves from other companies, we have a server, a system and a program that meet all security regulations. Furthermore, the service doesn’t require a monthly fee, payment is made by report volume,” said Doctor Flavio Sanchez, the Medical Director at the company.

Tips

From the city of Córdoba, the company TIPS went to ExpoMedical to tell the sector about a successful case study: the Private Hospital.

“In the outpatients’ department, the incorporation of the system helped greatly to reduce the number of patients missing appointments and it has also made a noticeable difference in billing as the proper presentation of all the information to the finance department helps us to avoid deficits. This is an in-house development prepared in association with the medical department. It is not just a systems project,” said Alejandro Nigro, a Functional Analyst and Head of Communications at the Private Hospital. He then added that the hospital’s strength is the Electronic Health Record.
