The First Tele-magnetic resonance scan performed as part of the Cyberhealth plan

Telemedicina

At the Hospital Provincial Felipe Arnedo, located in Clorinda, Formosa, a tele-magnetic resonance scan was performed for the first time on a 36-week pregnant woman. The images were shared via a teleconference with the Hospital Nacional Alejandro Posadas, in El Palomar, Buenos Aires Province.

This remote communication marked the first time that such a scan was shared as part of the National Cyberhealth Program implemented by the national ministries of Health and of Federal Planning, Public Investment and Services just over a year ago.

The objective of the first teleconference was to include specialists from the Buenos Aires hospital in the patient’s treatment as the baby suffers from a congenital deformation. The professionals also evaluated the need to refer the woman to a high complexity service.

Present during the communication were Doctor Julio Harris, a member of the Cyberhealth team, and doctors from other provincial hospitals such as Rural Laguna Blanca, the Madre y el Niño, the Ibarreta and Las Lomitas.

Posadas hospital is the leading institution in the national program for second opinion consults and for the training of healthcare personnel in every specialty. Today, 230 establishments are connected and it is planned to increase this number to 325 by the end of the year.
