HIMSS G7 Meeting to Develop Use Cases for Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS12

HIMSS

The HIMSS Interoperability Showcase,™ held in collaboration with Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), is an interactive exhibit of live demonstrations offering a realistic look at complex clinical use cases where organizations and agencies incorporate standards-based interoperability into their products. The Interoperability Showcase™ at the 2012 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition, February 20-24 in Las Vegas, will have a new addition: Business Systems. HIMSS is creating a Financial “node,” with two use cases to be demonstrated within the showcase. The HIMSS Interoperability Showcase™ at the HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition is one of the most trafficked areas at the event and is highly visible, with visits by top government officials and the press.

The HIMSS Medical Banking Project is developing the two use cases to be demonstrated within the showcase. During the HIMSS G7 meeting at the Vanderbilt Center for Better Health on Wednesday, September 14, delegates will work through a Vanderbilt DesignShop session, isolating two use case “finalists” to establish this new and prestigious node at the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase.™ One use case will show “medical banking in action;” the future of healthcare payments is interoperability of remittance data in order to automate workflows, simplify business processes and reduce daily operating costs of the provider’s operations. The other use case will feature “ICD-10 transformation” – demonstrating how the new codes are used for a medical treatment, cross-walked from ICD-9 to ICD-10 (in some cases) and then result in a claim that could be denied, paid or partially paid.
