Grants for Doctorates at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA)

The grants, which last for two years, are for healthcare professionals and include a year studying at the University of Tulane or Harvard University (depending on the doctorate chosen) in 2013 and another year at the Institute of Clinical and Healthcare Effectiveness (IECS) of Buenos Aires, with all expenses paid.  

The grant includes a year spent at a North American university. During this period students will take courses that meet the requirements for them to be admitted to the Doctorate Course at UBA and work on their thesis protocols.                                        

Students receiving grants for the Science of Implementation in Healthcare will study at the School of Public Healthcare and Tropical Medicine of the University of Tulane and those receiving grants in Chronic Diseases Located in the Cardiovascular Area will study at the School of Public Health of Harvard University. They will also spend a year working at the Institute of Clinical and Healthcare Effectiveness (IECS) developing their thesis project to obtain the academic title of Doctor of Medicine from UBA.                         

The grant covers registration, courses, a monthly stipend, flights and health insurance overseas.

The objectives are: to provide doctoral training in the maternal, infant and cardiovascular healthcare areas, to develop a sustainable program for the training of independent researchers, to implement design research skills and to prepare a personal doctoral project. It will also include participation in the projects run by the partner institutions and attendance at accredited training courses directly related to the chosen research subject.
