Description of the Role: The selected candidate, who will have to submit a tender to apply for the post, will provide strategic advice and programmatic technical guidance for the development of regional and national plans for Health Information Systems with a focus on vital statistics and health in the Americas. Part of their role will be to develop and coordinate sub-regional technical cooperation; to identify and promote the use of modern methods for the spread of information about vital statistics and health; to advise and collaborate with inter-programmatic activities; and to work together with the WHO, PAHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, PNUD, UNESCO, OIT, UNSD, CEPAL, and inter-governmental organizations and non-governmental organizations to build alliances and networks that favor the implementation of Action Plans. The contract will be a temporary one for a period of two years.
Education: Professional with a university degree in Health Sciences and a Masters in Public Health, HIS, Epidemiology, Demographics or Health Statistics from a recognized institution.
Requirements: Proven national and international experience of at least nine years. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook. Fluent level of English and Spanish; Portuguese and French would be a plus. Professional oral and written communication skills including the preparation of reports, oral presentations and technical/persuasive documents.
