The members of the National Healthcare Council for Indigenous Peoples (Conaspi) were sworn in in the Ex-Ministerial Hall at the Ministry of Health where they set out the strategies for the working plan for 2013.
“Conaspi must make a real inventory of the services currently being provided to indigenous communities and approach said communities in order to better understand their needs and requirements,” said the Minister of Health, Daisy Corrales Díaz.
Made up of an interdisciplinary team that promotes, guides, facilitates and coordinates processes of inter-cultural engagement in healthcare and social development between indigenous peoples and communities, Conaspi is a space created to respect the forms of participation and organization of indigenous communities. Its functions include: taking into account the opinion of indigenous citizens in decision making in the health sector, guaranteeing the population’s access to healthcare services and coordinating different public institutions, social organizations, local governments and indigenous populations.
