The director of the national hospital Cayetano Heredia, Edgardo Dulanto Monteverde, announced that from December electronic health records will be implemented at the healthcare center in Lima. At that time, the hospital will have 600 computers that will be used in the outpatient, hospitalization, emergency, operating theater and administrative departments.
“The implementation process for this modern system is 80 per cent complete, only a few infrastructural improvements are lacking; the acquisition of equipment is underway and the health record software is being designed,” said Monteverde.
The director also explained that an interconnected system will be set up that can include the results of tests and x-rays in each patient’s health record.
“If the patient is interested in getting a second medical opinion to resolve a certain health problem, they can be sent their electronic health record by email to save it and then share it with other specialists,” added Monteverde.
