The third edition of ExpoHospital 2013 gathered professionals, informaticians and executives in the sector and featured the main suppliers of Health IT systems and solutions.
Alert
ALERT, the winners of the “COTEC-BPI Innovation Prize” presented their solution for comprehensive, integrated clinical informatization. César Guimarães, CEO of the company, explained that the product included an electronic health record for hospitals, health centers and clinics.
The company also presented a “Personal Life Record”, a product developed so that patients can administer all of their healthcare information. “Our platforms are interoperable and allow communication between different institutions and citizens,” said Guimarães.
Coasin, Cisco and Stanley
CoasinGroup a comprehensive information technology company, shared its stand with its partners: Cisco and Stanley. “We’re presenting an asset tracking system developed by Stanley, which makes it possible to locate what you’re looking for in real time via a triangulation system,” said Carla Montes, Marketing Coordinator for Coasin.
Cisco meanwhile exhibited its telemedicine project, which includes video-conferencing among its tools. “This system makes it possible to see and share all the information. The new feature is that it doesn’t just serve to analyze an ultrasound or x-ray remotely, it also provides remote education functions,” Montes explained.
eHealth Systems
Supported by Movistar Innova and winner of the “Top 11 Innovations in Mobile Health” prize awarded by the Rockefeller foundation and the mHealth Alliance, eHealth Systems exhibited an automatic service that was created to provide clinical monitoring and help patients to care for themselves.
“My Doctor is a mobile system that uses text messages and recorded calls that the patients answer on their device to send information and recommendations for the home care of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension,” said Verónica Rojas Villar, the Clinical Manager of the company.
Galeno Plus
With live demonstrations during the fair, Galeno Plus presented an integrated platform that allows doctors to perform online consults. “We are presenting a teleconsult system that makes it possible to provide treatment via videoconferencing and is integrated with a virtual health record that records patient information,” said Victoria Soto, the company’s product manager.
As she went on to explain, the platform was designed to bring doctors closer to their patients. “In Chile there is a clear lack of specialists in certain regions and this platform helps to take them to other places,” said Soto.
Indra
Focusing on innovation and usability for the complete integration of health information, Indra presented some of its solutions: Health Integration Platform, Health Information Exchange, Imaging, Telemed, Telerehab and Health Connect.
“One of the most interesting products is a comprehensive rehabilitation platform developed with leading clinical experts, which involves improvements in the process, personalization and continuous monitoring of assisted, autonomous therapy for each patient,” said Marcelo Manuel Peñailillo Briceño, Health Manager of Indra Chile.
Kopland
One of the launches that occurred at ExpoHospital was that for the Kopland electronic health record. As Ruth Serón Bustamante, Sales Manager at the company, explained, the product has three applications: the personal clinical record, the online record and the record for medical consults.
“We are promoting a clinical management and administration system for mid-sized clinical and medical centers, which has around ten modules that can be acquired independently of each other. We carry out a complexity study to assess the needs of the medical center and then provide it with what it needs,” Serón Bustamante concluded.
Linux Networks and Systems Solutions
Maintenance and optimization of digital health are the main focuses of Linets, which presented its mobile clinical records at the fair. These are focused on the integration of two areas – support and development.
“The idea is for the client to always feel secure and know that if someone has a problem with their system, they will have a technical support team behind them to resolve it,” said Juan Pablo Reyes, a representative of the company.
MV
Bernardo Alves Da Silva, Account Manager at MV, noted that the system provided by the company is flexible enough to be integrated with other systems. “At ExpoHospital we are presenting HIS (Hospital Information System) software, developed entirely by us for hospital management,” he said.
He also revealed MV’s next objective in Chile: “We want to win the tender for the Carabineros Hospital because it is a well-respected institution with which we would like to work.”
Novakem
With an emphasis on accreditation, NovaKem exhibited its Cover Salud software, a document and record management system for the accreditation of healthcare providers – the accreditation system having been established nationally by the superintendent of Chile.
“During this adaptation process we have developed a technological tool to support our customers and those that have been accredited but still wish to keep their documentation and records consolidated on a single platform,” said Carolina Andrea Plaza Tornero, a psychologist and company consultant.
Philips and Andover
Ultrasound machines, high complexity monitors and monitoring centers for IT Service Units were some of the products presented by Andover at the stand they were sharing with Philips.
Norvy Polanía, Key Account Manager at Philips Chile, said that the company presented IT tools for X-ray machines and MRI scanners. He noted: “ExpoHospital is an opportunity to present products and make important contacts.”
SafeHis
One of the local exhibitors was SafeHis, which focuses on intelligent management of clinical processes. Francisco Cabello, a company representative, explained that the company’s priority has been to focus on developments for the clinical process in Chile, with all the applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
“The idea is to support the clinical process and all the different actors involved in patient care,” Cabello explained. Currently, a pilot program of the system is being implemented in the public sector.
However, the representative stated that there are three private hospitals interested in implementing the system developed by the company.
Saydex
The slogan for Saydex’s presence at ExpoHospital 2013 was “IT services for better health”. The company, which provides solutions and applications for the Ministry of Health of Chile and several Care Networks around the country, presented two main products: Rayen and Florence.
“Rayen is a clinical record system focused on family care in some specialties,” said Juan Rodríguez, General Manager of Saydex. He went on to explain: “For highly complex hospital care we use a Spanish system named Florence, made up of a set of applications with structured data that support the relationship between the patient and their attending professional. The company has won the prize for “ICT Business Innovation 2013” and seeks to continue placing its systems in the market.
Síntesis
With a strong focus on the field of telemedicine, Síntesis took advantage of the opportunity to tell investors that it is developing – in partnership with Telefónica – an application that allows for coordination between the agendas of healthcare professionals and their patients.
“Professional experts have their own schedule, and it must be harmonized with the doctor requesting telemedicine services. So, we have developed this application so that they can see, compare and coordinate with each other,” said Joaquín Ferreira, the company’s General Manager.
Stacks
The company, which is based in Spain and has offices in Chile and Argentina, presented its three current products. “We are presenting a hospital HIS system, primary care software and an administration layer that makes it possible to for the client to manage their care with primary care over the internet,” explained Luis Astudillo Ramos, Head of Projects at the multinational.
Stacks works with HL7 standards on messaging, Java language on the Internet and Oracle databases.
Telefónica
Aiming to promote tele-radiology in Chile, the telecommunication services provider presented its HIS management system.
María Paz Martínez Alderete, e-Health Business Consultant at Telefónica, said that the company’s HIS helps the entire Imaging department to work more efficiently. “Our solution stores the images in the best manner so that technicians can see them on special screens for diagnosis,” she explained.
Touch Media
One of the innovations of the fair was the telemedicine briefcase presented by Touch Media. “We are a company that develops solutions for videoconferences. In healthcare we focus on projects related to telemedicine,” said César Rojas, the General Producer of the company.
Vademecum Internacional
A leader in pharmacological information, Vademecum came to ExpoHospital 2013 in order to tell the sector that a solution that provides IT systems with a pre-loaded medications database exists.
Paul Bonnet, Director General of Vademecum, said that the company has a presence in several countries in the region: “Chile is the latest area we have reached over the past year and we are consolidated in Honduras and Mexico. We are also established through our partners in Central America.”
