The Infanta Leonor University Hospital in Madrid has implemented the computer solution Selene Mobility, which allows professionals to access and modify patients’ Electronic Health Records (EHR) at any time and from any place.
The initiative, designed for beside care processes, enhances the safety of medication administration. It also allows healthcare professionals to approve or modify electronic prescriptions.
To incorporate the system, which facilitates access and interaction between doctors and nurses via mobile devices, 30 tablets were configured and apps were installed on the staff’s personal smartphones.
Safe administration of antibiotics and pharmaco-vigilance
Seeking to improve monitoring of drugs, the Infanta Leonor Hospital has implemented computerized prescriptions and set up a safe administration circuit that functions via identification of each patient’s barcode.
In addition, with the prior approval of the doctor and the pharmacist, the system automates and traces administration. This is further enhanced by a specific antibiotic posology policy for each type of infection.
