Ignacio Hernández Medrano, a Spanish neurologist at the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital, has won an award for the creation and development of Medroom, software that re-uses the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
The “Call to innovation” award from the Singularity University of the United States recognizes the tool for its decision making capability. In fact, it allows a doctor to have instant, direct access to an EHR in which other specialized professionals have written about similar clinical cases.
Hernández Medrano’s entry won from among over 200 ideas. The competition was announced under the slogan: “How would you resolve the biggest problems of Spain – education, the financial crisis, energy dependance – and improve the loves of 10 million Spanish citizens through technology?”
The prize is a scholarship to take a post-graduate degree in the Graduate Studies Program. Over ten weeks, the 80 winners from different parts of the world will study together at NASA headquarters in Silicon Valley.
