In an increasingly connected world where citizens are looking for information about their medical treatments and state of health, technology is a good ally.
Designed for this reality and aware that in Chile the users themselves own this clinical data, Saydex has created a pioneering Latin American solution that allows people to access their clinical information from any platform in a quick and safe way.
“My Health” is a platform from its family of Personal Health Records (PHR) that integrates the systems of each healthcare institution. Today it is available to anyone who has been treated – throughout Chile – at Primary Care centers and hospitals that feature the RAYEN or FLORENCE Electronic Health Records.
After receiving the patient’s consent, the portal makes available not only a complete and precise summary of their medical history, but also offers the tools to take greater control of their condition and to promote self-care and empowerment for enhanced wellbeing.
So, when the patient accesses the portal, they can see useful information supplied by different professionals during the care process such as diagnoses, treatments, care recommendations, test results, the dates when medications or milk can be picked up or a vaccination schedule.
“This platform makes it possible to coordinate and provide reminders of medical appointments of patients and to see the pharmaceutical dosages prescribed or the delivery date of future prescriptions, among many other issues. Furthermore – in the near future – the status of pending consults and the scope and benefits for each patient of the Explicit Health Guarantees (GES) through more personalized medical care will also be made available,” explained Dr. Inti Paredes, an expert in Health IT and Senior Clinical Consultant at Saydex.
Democratizing Information
One of the virtues of this solution is that it makes it possible to have continuous access to educational information about each person’s specific health condition. For example, if the patient is diabetic, when they access the portal they will receive clear and simple information about their disease, habits that will help to improve their health indicators, nutrition data, etc.
“The solution seeks to help the patient take charge of the information and become protagonists within the context of a more democratic healthcare model. Rather than an information site, what we are presenting is a community with the patient at its heart,” Paredes added.
Characteristics of the Platform
The “My Health” portal makes it possible for users to access their appointment schedule, latest treatments and check-ups, reminders through messages and pop-ups of the delivery dates for food and medications, a complete vaccination schedule, diagnoses and instructions and to update their personal health parameters – such as cholesterol, weight, size, body mass index and glucose levels, among other functions.
It also has educational and self-care modules tailored to users’ state of health, offering practical advice on nutrition and care tailored to their specific pathologies, age range and other personal indicators.
In turn, “My Health” will make it possible for users to create contact networks with people suffering from the same pathologies and even with profiles similar to their own in order to request or deliver advice about nutrition and care. So, a mother with a diabetic child will be able to ask for helpful advice and tips such as where to get sugar-free chocolate.
