Márcio Cunha hospital is recertified with EMRAM 7 of HIMSS

Hospital Márcio Cunha, a reference in Minas Gerais, Brazil, has just received the international HIMSS 7 recertification. This recertification indicates the level of maturity in the adoption of electronic medical records, using Information Technology to gain operational efficiency, better quality of care and greater patient safety.

The Director of Hospitals at Fundação São Francisco Xavier, Dr. Mauro Oscar de Souza Lima, emphasized the importance of everyone on the team, who showed themselves to be committed to seeking continuous improvement in processes. “There are several teams that come together to form a great team. And we remain firm on further developments for the next renewal cycle. After all, we work to deliver value to our patients, to the healthcare system, to our hospital”, he commented.

The Superintendent of the Márcio Cunha Hospital, Dr. Bruno Nunes Ribeiro said: “For us at HMC, recertification in the HIMSS 7 standard is vitally important and is in line with our line of growth of the São Francisco Xavier Foundation hospitals. It is a certification that primarily assesses the technology used in patient care, diagnosis and care. In other words, we were able to prove once again what we always had as ideal, which is to use technology and innovation in favor of health, patients and well-being, which is the reason for the existence of the hospital”.

The Hospital achieved the first certification in 2016 and for the recertification it had to demonstrate the full use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), integration to share clinical information, reports and clinical-care indicators and availability in all sectors: emergency, hospital, ICU, outpatient clinic and surgical center .

The auditors also evaluated the entire closed circuit of medicines, clinical decision support systems, the full use of PACS (medical images), digitization of documents and the existence of a plan in case of system unavailability.
