This week, the Honduran Institute of Social Security (IHSS) will hold its first Quality and Technological Innovation Conference between the 9th and 11th of May in Tegucigalpa (Honduras), as part of its Financial and Hospital Modernization Project (MOFIHSS). The objective of the 1st Quality and Technological Innovation Conference is to examine the concept of medical care to increase knowledge by sharing international experiences which will help the IHSS to achieve its short term goal of hospital certification from the Joint International Commission, thus ensuring that its citizens will receive the optimal medical care they deserve, with trained professionals and a commitment to excellence in medical care processes.
Part of the Conference’s focus will include an assessment of QTIs as a key factor in improving the quality of medical care, part of the IHSS’s commitment to quality care, such as the provision of healthcare services to individual users and groups in an accessible and equable manner in the most professional way possible, taking into account the balance between benefits, risks and costs, with the aim of achieving the cooperation and satisfaction of said users.
This study will include an analysis of the technological and scientific capacity necessary for healthcare service providers via real life projects and experiences such as the electronic health record in Mexico, presented by Dr. Gabriela Villareal, who had an active role in its planning and development, together with CSC, Grupo Sanidad. All this will serve as a model for the Honduran Institute of Social Security to progress with the development and implementation of its Financial and Hospital Modernization project together with CSC, Grupo Sanidad, the Center for Diagnostics and Risk Prevention and the POPA Group.
MOFIHSS Project:
The Honduran Institute of Social Security (IHSS) Financial and Hospital Modernization Project involves the Clinical, Administrative and Hospital Management of over 20 medical units which make up the Honduran Institute of Social Security, and will make it possible to record the activities of different areas of the Institution such as administration, operations and patient monitoring, clinical integration and make patients and citizens’ health records available online in an efficient manner. CSC, Grupo Sanidad, together with the Grupo POPA and the Center of Diagnostics and Risk Prevention, will be the technological partner for the development and implementation of the Centralized Unique Electronic Health Record, integrating solutions from CSC, Grupo Sanidad for Specialized Care (x-HIS) and Primary Care (e-SIAP), included in the catalogue of Vademécum International and a Healthcare Control Panel, under QlikView, which will provide multiple benefits related to the ease of access of clinical information, administrative support, procedural improvements and an increase in productivity. The project will also include integration with the Government Resources Planning System (GRP) by SAP as well as making available a biometric personal authentication system to ensure maximum security of information to users.
During the Conference, on Wednesday, 9th of May, CSC, Grupo Sanidad held a presentation on the extent of the project, given by Manuel Mora, the company’s pre-sales consultant.
The MOFIHSS Project, which is currently in its development phase, has the objective of supporting efficiency improvements, operational effectiveness and the differentiation of first level hospital services via an integrated and multidimensional solution aimed at transforming the IHSS, integrating clinical, administrative and financial management and demonstrating the Honduran Institute of Social Security’s commitment to QTIs as a means of ensuring the effectiveness and equable level desired in its healthcare service, with the ultimate objective of meeting international quality standards based on the following premises:
