Organizations Invited to Participate in National Health IT Week

HIMSS

Initiated in 2006 by HIMSS, National Health IT Week has emerged as a landmark occasion to highlight health IT as part of the overall solution to improve America’s healthcare as a bipartisan, federally led, market driven initiative. In 2011, President Obama issued an official Proclamation of National Health IT Week, and the U.S. Senate passed a Resolution declaring National Health IT WeekNHIT Week 2012 will take place Sept. 10-14. Participants—vendors, provider organizations, payers, pharmaceutical/biotech companies, government agencies, industry/professional associations, research foundations, consumer protection groups, and others— are working together to elevate national attention to the value of advancing health IT. With 200 partners across the United States last year, NHIT Week is a virtual event with a variety of activities in communities from Maine to California. As a partner-driven event, we encourage participants to leverage the opportunity to raise awareness and help the collective cause by recognizing the Week in local communities. To this end, we’ve put together 10 ways you can celebrate NHIT Week in your hometown. In Washington, D.C., events include the 11th Annual HIMSS Policy Summit, a Capitol Hill press conference, professional development seminars, and more.  For more information about how your organization or facility can participate this year, click the e-mail link above.
