Strong Support for the Public-Private Healthcare Model at the Opening of Expo Hospital 2012

The official opening was presided over by Andrés van Wersch, the President of Fisa, who organized the event. “Expo Hospital has become the principal annual event in the healthcare sector in Chile, where technological innovation, exchange of experiences, knowledge and good practice converge in the extensive debate and analysis of the major issues and challenges we face today; all part of the country’s Second International Healthcare Meeting,” he noted. He went on to thank the other event organizers: an academic committee made up of the Public Healthcare School at the Universidad de Chile; the Universidad Católica de Chile’s healthcare network; the Universidad Andrés Bello; the Universidad de Los Andes; the Universidad del Desarrollo and Universidad Mayor, and the Andrés Bello Public Health Institute.   

He also announced that the key issues to be faced in the development of Chilean healthcare, such as sustainable healthcare spending, Care Management, the Healthcare Guarantee Plan, the Quality Models or Accreditation Policy, Ageing, problems and opportunities in other countries, the New Law of Duty and Patient Rights, Oncology and the main challenges ahead for Chile would all be debated at EISACH, the II International Health Meeting in Chile

Attendees were further greeted by Doctor Gonzalo Grebe Noguera, General Manager of the Las Condes Clinic and President of the Association of Clinics of Chile, who emphasized the national investment of 1.338 billion Chilean pesos between 2011 and 2013 to make the model for administration of public health based on new privately-run concessioned hospitals possible.  

The progress made in this model was hailed by the President of the Medical College of Chile, Enrique Paris and Manuel Inostroza Plama, the executive director of the Andrés Bello Institute of Public Healthcare, who highlighted the need to continue innovating in healthcare and the contribution of universities, companies and professionals in that field.  

The fair will take place over the next 3 days until the 29th of June. Among the main providers of computer healthcare solutions who will be present as both exhibitors and visitors are Indra, who will present their solution for La Florida, the first concession hospital run as a private-public partnership in Chile; Saydex, who will exhibit all the Chilean company’s new products for healthcare establishments in the field of clinical management and administration support tools, and MV who are planning to open offices in Chile within the next two months.
