The first edition of the Informatics Week arrives in Chicago

Generales

The Informatics Week will take place in Chicago, United States, during the first week of November, according to what Mayor Rahm Emanuel has declared.

The celebration was designed to showcase Chicago’s diverse Biomedical and Health Informatics education, training, research and development entities and to develop special event programming in conjunction with the world’s premier scientific meeting for biomedical and health informatics: the AMIA 2012 Annual Symposium.

A recent paper from the Academic Forum of the AMIA (American Medical Informatics Association), has established that Biomedical informatics (BMI) is the interdisciplinary field that studies and pursues the effective uses of biomedical data, information, and knowledge for scientific inquiry, problem solving, and decision making, driven by efforts to improve human health.

Lectures and seminaries are just some of the numerous activities that the event will offer in order to promote this medical discipline that has been identified as a growing job field.
