Microsoft Presents Its Vision of e-Health at the Digital Cities Event

The Digital Cities 2012 Event, in its 13th Edition, organized by AHCIET in Buenos Aires on the 10th and 11th of October at the Hilton, provided a forum for speakers from very different sectors to debate the best paths to follow to bring about progress in the information society.

The debate about e-Health was chaired by Carlos Cendra, Director of Global e-Health Development at Telefónica, and Eduardo Steinmann, WW Public Sector Cloud Director at Microsoft.

Both presented their vision of the future of healthcare systems and how technology will help to solve difficult problems.

Steinmann referred to the four main trends defined by Microsoft (Mobility, Social Networking, Cloud Computing and Big Data) and how these can be implemented in telehealth services.

He talked about the possibility of providing access to and control of patients’ healthcare through different devices and ended by discussing the innovative development of Kinect – a device originally developed for games – which can be used in telemedicine so that a professional, during operations that require them to read imaging diagnostics, can interact with the screen without any need to take off their surgical gloves.
