During the 2012 election cycle, the majority of candidates at the national and state levels agreed that improvements in the quality, safety, efficiency, and access to care for all Americans relies, in part, on the adoption and best use of health IT, and deployment of secure, interoperable networks enabling appropriate exchange of health information. Such efforts support the transformation of our Nation’s health system. Historically, the implementation of health information technology to achieve more efficient healthcare has received wide bipartisan support both in Congress and in successive Republican and Democratic administrations.
