The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has made a loan of 6 million dollars available for the Salud.uy Program, which seeks to strengthen the National Integrated Health System of Uruguay through the formation of a Care Network.

This project will use Information Technology to create tools that can provide better access to quality healthcare services.

At first the work, to be implemented nationally, will be focused on: electronic health record, image technology and support for the Ministry of Public Health.

To achieve this, standards, technology strategies and implementation plans will be created for a national electronic health record. In addition, a tele-imaging system will be developed among a group of providers as a pilot scheme.

The agreement was signed by the IDB, the ministers of Health and the Economy, the Agency for Electronic Government and the Information Society and the President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.
