Diploma in Patient Safety

Educación

The Hospital Universitario Austral and the Centro de Estudios Interdisciplinarios en Gestión y Economía de la Salud (CEGES) at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences will offer a Diploma in Patient Safety during the 2014 academic year.

The program will be given in semi-virtual format between April and October with a weekly remote delivery of theory modules and four in person classes that will reinforce and put into the practice the concepts learned online.

The in person modules – Fridays between 2PM and 8PM and Saturdays from 8:30AM to 2:30PM – will take the form of field activities on the premises of the Hospital Universitario Austral, which recently received certification from the Joint Commission International, the leading authority on the quality and safety of patient care in the world.

During the fieldwork, students will carry out educational activities focused on safe environments in accordance with the international standards of the Joint Commission International – facilities, machine room, safety in operating rooms, laboratory, sterilization and bio-engineering – and global patient tracers with international safety and medication targets, among other activities.

To obtain the Diploma Certificate in Patient Safety from the Universidad Austral students must pass all the theoretical modules and create a final project that demonstrates knowledge of the tools provided.
