A new technological solution that improves reliability of diagnosis and treatment of patients will be implemented at Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital (Brazil), the first health institution outside the United States to be certified by the Joint Commission International.
The management system – unprecedented in the country- will manage all hospital and ambulatory patient data.
‘Albert Einstein is a highly innovative hospital in terms of quality and technological advancement, and we seek suppliers with those same characteristics,’ informed Dr. Claudio Lottenberg, the Institution’s President.
To carry forward the implementation, the selected company is Cerner, an American company specialized in hospitals and healthcare systems which provides information systems that integrate information and optimize processes that eliminate errors and wasting.
‘Our clinical practices are focused on our patients. Cerner’s integrated technology will increase our practices efficiency and the safety for our patients,’ concluded Lottenberg.
The chosen solution, denominated Cerner Millennium, guarantees that all of the patient’s clinical history be properly stored and available to the medical and healthcare team. Also, the management system allows multiple items to be managed at the same time, from the check in to the patient discharge, as well as control over clinical protocols and medical administration record; management of available resources, admission rooms, the number of rendering physicians by area in each shift, among other things.
‘Cerner Millennium’s deployment is not only a change in technology, but an opportunity to review clinical practices so that providers and technical analysts can work in synergy,’ said Marcos García, Vice President and Principal Executive Officer for Cerner Spain and Latin America.
In addition, he commented that the solution delivers information to providers in a fast and safe manner and helps to mitigate errors and reduces the time spent on administrative tasks.
‘We share Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein’s vision; the combination of good management and world-class information technology can improve the treatment quality and efficiency of a hospital for the benefit of their staff and patients,’ explained García.
The first phase of the project consists of the tool translation, user training on the new technology and the implementation of workflows for each area of Albert Einstein, such as clinical documentation, electronic medical records, pharmacy, management of beds, billing, emergency, ICU, Oncology, Cardiology, Diagnostic Medicine, Surgery Center, among other areas.
