During a campaign event in the state of Iowa, Hillary Clinton, a presidential candidate in the USA, emphasized the importance of incorporating telemedicine into the healthcare system of the USA to improve care in rural areas.

“Our healthcare system has changed dramatically but it is still very difficult for rural families to get accessible, quality healthcare,” Clinton said. She also admitted that many citizens are worried by the number of rural hospitals that have closed recently.

“Telemedicine could help,” said the former Secretary of State. She also called for licenses to be granted more quickly and a determined exploration into how to pay for this technology via Medicare.

“We need to improve the healthcare system,” said Clinton. During her speech she also remembered that a few decades ago she had run a commission on rural health in Arkansas which sought to increase access to healthcare in remote areas.
