The data is provided by Hospital Integrado (Sinha) and is included in the 4th Edition of the ANAHP Observatory, which started during the Hospitalar 2012 fair. The publication presents an exhaustive analysis of the economics and finances, operational management, staff and quality of associated hospitals as well as an analysis of the complementary healthcare system. The main source of income for hospitals came from private healthcare operators which represent around $8.9 billion or 94.4% of the total. “As well as the financial results, it is important to bear in mind that healthcare professionals are showing that ensuring quality of service can result in sustainable long term growth. In this context, we note the growing number of hospitals which sought certifications affirming the quality of care provided,” said Francisco Balestrin, Presdident of the ANAHP council. Institutions associated with ANAHP have, for example, received over 50% of the international qualifications awarded to hospitals in Brazil and 21% of national qualifications. “These figures show a commitment to quality on the part of our associates, reinforcing the leadership of the ANAHP, whose aims include an emphasis on continuous improvement in the quality of service, and an affirmation of the Brazilian culture of treasuring good health,” he stated. ANAHP is made up of 45 of the largest and most important hospitals in the country, both profit and non-profit, spread out across 11 states and Distrito Federal, which offer the highest possible standards in quality and the best medical practice. Among the entry criteria for the Association, institutions must have accreditation from the National Accreditation Organization (ONA III), the Joint Commission International (JCI), Accreditation from Canada or the National Accreditation Commission for Integrated Medical Care Organizations (NIAHO).
