Last month, the Heath Administration IT System (S.I.Ge.Sa.) was launched at the Dr. Edgardo Acuña Primary Care Center in Catamarca. The tool will help to simplify and modernize healthcare administration at both central and hospital levels in the province. Patients can now be identified, labeled, differentiated and located.
Oscar Da Prá, director of Social IT and Communications at the Government of Catamarca, explained that the system is patient-focused as doctors can obtain patient information from the database.
“In September last year an agreement was signed with the Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences which created software and now a full IT system, designed specifically for healthcare, which is a major advantage,” said the official.
The implementation of the system will be gradual and start with the Dr Edgardo Acuña Hospital in the north and in the south with the Doctor Carlos Bravo Hospital, and continue with other health centers in the province.
At first the appointment and diagnosis administration module will be implemented to streamline the process. Later, other modules will be developed which will include pharmacy administration and spending management functions.
Finally, it is important to note that the Healthcare Management System was designed and developed entirely by professionals in Catamarca through the signature of a collaboration agreement between the IT Department of the Ministry of Health and the Faculty of Technology of the National University of Catamarca.
