The ambitious initiative saw the MV system start to operate in 17 public hospitals in Tocantins. The objective of the initiative is to integrate information from every sector of state institutions administered by the Promoción de la Salud Organización (Organization for the Promotion of Social Healthcare). “It took three months of dedication and hard work from the MV consultants, Promoción de la Salud executives and hospital employees,” said Robson Cato, the corporate director of MV’s commercial department. The project included consultancy and planning for Mercedes de la Confederación de Brazil (CMB).

According to the Secretary of State for Health, Arnaldo Nunes, this was the first time that 17 hospitals in the country have simultaneously operated the new administration platform, which will make possible significant advances in healthcare in the state. “With the new completely computerized system, it is possible to see each hospital’s current status, the number of available beds and a large of amount of varied information, allowing for improved administration, even over long distances,” said the Secretary.

Louise Lyra, the Regional Director of MV, stated that this is the first time the MV system has been used to administer a complete healthcare area, including emergencies, hospitalization, outpatients, laboratories, imaging diagnostics and pharmacy and warehouse stock control. “The second phase is to implement CPOE in the UCI,” she added. To achieve this goal, all admittances at the 17 institutions were standardized and concentrated centrally. “We have implemented a standardized base which is replicated in every unit,” Louise explains.

A new aspect of this project is that the offices of the Secretary of State for Health, Arnaldo Nunes, and the governor, Siqueira Campos, will receive panels displaying information sent from the hospitals, which will facilitate their monitoring and administration. “The government in the state of Tocantins is carrying out a major transformation in the management of public healthcare units, ensuring more access, better quality and the humanization of healthcare and we are proud of MV’s role in this project,” said Paul Magnus, president of MV.
